Lutheran Evangelical Church of Thailand (LECT)

In Village 9

Picture
Meet Watchapon (Joe) SaeMa and his family.  Joe was born in the forests of northern Thailand at the time his family fled to Thailand.  Since no records were kept, he is unsure of his age and does not know the date of his birth.  His parents are not Christians.  His father lives with his second wife.  Joe's mother lives with him and his family.  Like the rest of the villagers in Village 9, Joe helps to support his family through farming.  He and his wife have two children.

Joe was introduced to Christianity in the early years of our mission work in Village 9.  He enrolled in the Bible Institute that was established by our missionaries in Chiang Mai.  He completed the evangelist program and returned to Village 9 where he spent the next two years working as a full time evangelist in our mission congregation.  In 2011 it became possible for him to continue his training and studies at our seminary in Chiang Rai.   He graduated in May 2013 and became the first full time pastor of our mission congregation in Village 9.

In Haui Han Village

Meet Vichai Sae Vang.  Vichai was introduced to the Christian faith in his mid 20's when a relative visiting from America asked him for a ride to our mission.  It was the first time Vichai had set foot in a Christian church.  Following a number of visits over the next few months by an elder of the church, Vichai came to realize the joy of knowing Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

With a desire to reach his countrymen with the gospel, he entered our seminary program and in 2013 he graduated.  He was assigned to begin exploratory work in his childhood village where there was no Christian church.

He is married to his wife Paanpita and they have four children.
