The Thailand Evangelical Lutheran Synod Foundation

In the summer of 2017, the Thailand government approved the establishment of the Thailand Evangelical Lutheran Synod Foundation headquartered in Chiang Rai. As the Foundation becomes more established, its goals and services will reach out to communities in northern Thailand with humanitarian aid, short and long term educational opportunities, youth camps, building construction projects, health care training and service opportunities that are meant to provide spiritual, mental, and physical wellbeing.
Through the gifts and support of so many, WELS has been able to move forward with the construction of some new facilities which will provide space for Bible classes, worship, housing, and places to carry out activities through our new Foundation.
Though the Foundation is a legal entity separate and apart from the church, it will be able to open doors that are not open to the church and work side by side with our missions to assist them in their gospel work as well as sponsor humanitarian aid projects for the communities we serve. As the Foundation becomes more established, we hope to expand its reach in order to provide more educational opportunities for ESL instruction through trained US educators. We are focussed on providing Christ centered activities and training for the youth through organized camps and seminars. We are continuing to assist our mission fields with construction projects that provide buildings that can serve the dual purpose of providing both worship facilities and service centers for their communities. The TELS Foundation’s goal is not only to provide social assistance, but also to serve as a bridge and platform for our missions that better enables them to reach more people with the gospel message.
Below are some photos of the newly constructed facilities in some of the mountain villages where we are serving. Some of these buildings are not quite complete, but the photos will give you a glimpse into what has been happening in the field.
Stay tuned for updates as the TELSF gets its feet on the ground and begins implementing its objectives and goals.
