The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod - the WELS
The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) is a confessional Lutheran church body headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Begun by European immigrants to Wisconsin in 1850, it now has member congregations throughout the USA and conducts mission work in 25 foreign countries.
The WELS is committed to the Great Commission of Christ, namely, to proclaim the gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ and his atoning work for mankind.
